Kids and families invited to Pike Place Market to trick-or-treat with Market vendors, decorate pumpkins and celebrate local organizations that are making a difference in our community
Chase kick starts the season of giving as they get ready to host the Chase Community Giving Fall Celebration, an event at Pike Place Market in Seattle, where three Chase Community Giving Western Washington grant recipients will officially be awarded a total of $100,000: Pigs Peace Sanctuary, Abused Deaf Women’s Advocacy Services and South King Early Intervention Program.
The celebration event, in partnership with The Market Foundation, will take place at Pike Place Market on Saturday, October 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include free, fall-themed activities for families. The awards ceremony will take place at noon at the Chase tent, located at the intersection of Pike Place and Pine Street in front of the Market.
“We’d like to congratulate all three of these organizations and everyone who participated in this year’s Chase Community Giving Program,” said Phyllis Campbell, Chairman of the Pacific Northwest, JPMorgan Chase. “We’re thrilled to be able to recognize the great work happening within our local community and in communities across Washington State. We applaud the winners of this year’s grants and hope these contributions make a real and impactful difference in their programs.”
Chase Community Giving Western Washington is a localized version of the national, crowd-sourced Chase Community Giving program which has provided a share of more than $28 million to thousands of charities since 2009. This year a total of 1,163 charities were nominated in Western Washington by Chase customers and employees for the opportunity to share in $100,000 in grants. The participation of these organizations in the Western Washington program is in addition to participation in the national grant program. The three grant recipients in Western Washington were selected by a local Chase Advisory Board.
Pigs Peace Sanctuary, recipient of a $50,000 grant, is dedicated to providing a safe home for unwanted, abused or neglected animals in need and is committed to spreading the message of compassion and respect for all animals. In addition, Pigs Peace Sanctuary will be awarded a $10,000 grant based on the number of votes received during the national Chase Community Giving program.
Abused Deaf Women’s Advocacy Services, recipient of a $25,000 grant, provides comprehensive services to Deaf and Deaf-Blind victims and survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking. ADWAS believes that violence is a learned behavior and envisions a world where violence is not tolerated. The ADWAS model has been replicated in 42 Deaf communities across the United States.
South King Early Intervention Program, recipient of a $25,000 grant, is a Kent-based program that works to empower families within their communities and children within their families. Their goal is to help children, ages birth to three with developmental delays and disabilities, achieve their full potential while helping parents and caregivers develop confidence and competence they need to support their child.
“This gift means so much. It will provide medical care for our geriatric pig population and with it we will be able to build additional housing for rescued animals,” said Judy Woods, Director of Pigs Peace Sanctuary. “We will also complete our education center and outreach program and increase public access to the sanctuary so school and community groups can visit. We are very appreciative of Chase for this grant.”
Fall Celebration at Pike Place Market
At the Chase Community Giving Fall Celebration on October 27, kids and kids at heart will have an opportunity to don their Halloween costumes for some early trick-or-treating with Market vendors, indulge in seasonal ice cream by Snoqualmie Ice Cream, decorate pumpkins, and snap fun photos with a friend at the festival photo booth.
Additionally, attendees will enjoy live music and stay warm with tasty cider from Tiny’s Organic and butternut squash soup provided by Pear Delicatessen and Shoppe.

It’s a celebration of giving back, of the season, and of the Market.”
