17th Annual Enumclaw School District Pow Wow a Cultural Celebration

Dancers and drummers of all ages came together Friday at Enumclaw High School to celebrate their Native American culture.

Having missed the Enumclaw School District Pow Wow last year (), we decided to check out the 17th Annual Pow Wow on Friday and Enumclaw High School and were enchanted by the beautiful apparel worn by the dancers and drummers of all ages.

According to organizer Cathy Calvert, the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe sponsors the Enumclaw School District Pow Wow, and dancers and drums come from the local area as well as from the Yakima. Arnold Littlehead served as this year's emcee.

The school district students have been practiced their dance for months and the Pow Wow was the event to show off their new skills, she wrote in the .

A host of vendors selling Native American jewelry, apparel, food products and other items were also in attendance and we perused their wares in between bites of fry bread and Indian tacos.
