Ask FLIN: Have You Checked Out This Important Plateau Resource?

A directory of human services for residents of Enumclaw and the Plateau area isn't new, but putting the information on a website rather than making printed copies ensures the information is more widely available and easier to update.

When Patch last sat down with Enumclaw Regional Healthcare Foundation director Rene' Popke in May, the foundation was working with an access to information task force on a better way to get healthcare information out to the community. ().

According to The Courier-Herald, the effort in the form of a website called Ask FLIN (www.askflin.com) was unveiled in September. We first noticed it back October during the but alas, we never got around to checking it out for ourselves. That is, until we sat down to chat with outgoing library director last week, who has been the city's liaison to the Human Services Board. (Look for an interview with Baer in the next week as he reflects on a long and fruitful career.)

There's nothing wrong with a phone book, but Ask FLIN seems pretty comprehensive and lists a host of community services listed from A to Z: abuse and assault, dental resources, parenting, recreation, and veterans assistance to name a few.

There's also many professional profiles covering fields including chiropractic care, family medicine, midwifery, physical therapy and vascular surgery. So if you're a service provider, you might want to check and see if you're listed. If not, you'll want to contact the site manager (directions are on the site in the lower right hand corner under 'Opportunities.')
