Dental Van Still Looking for Volunteer Dentists, Hygienists

Enumclaw's Mobile Dental Program got started earlier this month, fulfilling a need in the Plateau area for free dental care for those who can't afford it.

Laurel Bailey, the director of the Mobile Dental Program in Enumclaw (and hopefully soon in Buckley), alerted us at Patch this week that Dr. Neil Bergstrom has signed on to provide free dental services during the van's visit in July.

Dr. Scott Decker and Drs. Daniel Ryning and Jason McGonegle  will be filling in for May and June, respectively.

The first run of the program this month saw seven patients with a variety of different reasons for needing to see a dentist, but they all have one thing in common: without this free service, they would otherwise not be able to pay for the dental care they received.

It was funding provided by the Enumclaw Regional Healthcare Foundation, along with significant contributions from Mutual of Enumclaw, that made it possible for the huge mobile dental van to park in the lot next to the Chamber of Commerce and begin seeing patients on the Plateau.

The van is scheduled for monthly visits in Enumclaw through April 2012.
