Frugal Family: Mother's Day Freebies

Many local business owners are honoring mom this weekend with freebies and special treats.

This "new" used book store in the heart of Enumclaw has a selection of poetry books on display. These books have been specifically chosen for that special mom in your life. In celebration of Mother's Day, The Sequel is offering free lattes to every mom. Recycled books on the cheap and a free latte, that's one sweet mom's day deal!

Kids, this one if for you.  Bring your mom into Old School Frozen Custard this Sunday, May 8th, and get her a single scoop cone or cup for free! Touted as the Northwest's freshest ice cream, this homemade treat is whipped up fresh with the standard choices in addition to a single flavor of the day. I found this deal on their Facebook page, which is always a great way to find local deals.  Plus, with this page you get updates on the flavor of the day.

 &

These two locally owned Enumclaw businesses are teaming up to offer a special dinner for Mother's Day. Don't gasp a the $50 per person price tag!  This is a steal for the goument meal and professional wine pairing, which starts with bubbly and ends with a surprise chocolate dessert. Patch called and confirmed there is still availability, but don't hesitate to make the reservation if this is how you want to go because there are only a few seats left for this limited seating wine experience. The price includes includes four courses paired with wines from  Knipprath Cellars Wines from Spokane, WA. Click here for more details and the full menu.

THE ORTING BAKERY

This week, the pastry chefs at The Orting Bakery are working on a special selection of delectable Mother's Day Cakes. They will have single layer cakes starting at $10.25 and double layer cakes starting at $15.25. Customers can choose from any of the cakes in the display case or call the shop and order a custom message. Plus, when looking for something to go with those flowers you bought, don't underestimate Mom's love for the variety of other baked goods such as breads, pastries, and cookies all made fresh daily.

FTD FLORISTS

Some of us just can't shop local for things like flowers only because Mom lives in another town. If you order a Mother's Day bouquet from the FTD website, many of the arrangements are on sale for up to 25 percent off.  In addition, you can save $5 by using the coupon code "SAVEFIVE" during checkout, which can take the sting out of the delivery fee. The main website will locate a florist where ever your delivery is headed, but if you do have the option to shop local and still want to use the coupon code here are the local FTD shops I found online: Wesley Berry Flowers delivers in both Bonney Lake and Sumner and Buds & Blooms delivers in Enumclaw. Order soon because the weekend and holiday cut-offs are in effect!

Hi, Susan and Lou. We do know that our events calendar has issues at the moment with incorrect timesRead More displaying, and our engineering team is at work to correct this. My best suggestion at the moment is to post a comment on an event with the correct time, if you aren't able to go in and edit an event that you previously posted. Our ownership has not changed -- we have been and continue to be a part of the AOL family. Our intent with the new design is to highlight the great content that our users create and share with the community. We know there have been some bumps with our launch and are working diligently to fix them. We hope you'll be patient with us and continue to share on Patch.

Always looking for a local nature trail, I really enjoy reading Mary Janosik's well written blog. InRead More fact, almost all the dedicated bloggers posting on the Enumclaw PATCH have something worthwhile reading. But it is not an easy job for most of us, taking some time to research and write, without any compensation. Our only reward is knowing we are being read and appreciated and the only way we know that is when you comment. In my opinion, most of the PATCH blogs are a community service, informing residents about our community and issues concerning you, our readers. So please send your favorite bloggers a thank you or a comment once in awhile to keep us motivated and feel appreciated..
