Grab and Go: Robots, Spring Concert and Poetry Contest

Little Lambs Story Time, The Salt Shaker

WHEN?  Every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

WHY GO? Moms with little ones ages one through six can enjoy some time together at Enumclaw’s The Salt Shaker Christian Bookstore with story time and activities. While in store, grab a cup of java from the Book Brothers who feature roasts such as Writer’s Roast, Espresso Libro and the anticipated EnumCoffee, coming soon.

HOW MUCH? Free, though you may want to bring coffee money

Spring has Sprung Concert, White River High School Auditorium

WHEN? Saturday, March 28 at 2:00 p.m.

WHY GO? Help kick off spring with the Gateway Concert Band. This community band, based out of Enumclaw, is comprised of 40 members aged 16 to 70 years old.  Active in the community and playing at seasonal events year-round, the spring concert kicks off their 2011 schedule.

HOW MUCH? Free

Robot Garage Drop-In, Sumner Library

WHEN? March 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

WHY GO?  This library event, sponsored by the Museum of Flight, is a drop-in program for kids in grade 2-9. No registration is required for this 15 minute workshop that includes constructing a rover from a room full of robot parts.

HOW MUCH?  Free

Robot Garage, Buckley and Bonney Lake Libraries

WHEN? Sunday, March 29 at 1 p.m. and Monday, March 30 at 2 p.m.

WHY GO?  Unlike the mini-sessions, this one-hour program is designed to teach about robotic history and the latest achievements around the globe. For kids in grade 2-9, the program also includes a team-based building activity to highlight and encourage basic engineering skills. Registration is required.

HOW MUCH?  Free

Wake Up to Poetry Contest, Buckley Library

WHEN? April 2, deadline at 5 p.m.

WHY GO?  Open to kids in the White River School District, grade 4-6, this 7th annual contest is designed to celebrate National Poetry Month. Winners will be invited to present their work to friends, family and the community on April 27.  Rules and entry form can be found on the Pierce County Library website.
