Great Escape: Plan a Road Trip on Two Wheels

Where will your hog take you this summer?

For those who enjoy the freedom of two wheels on the pavement and wind in your face, this area features incredible scenery that’s just begun to thaw out.

Travel State Route 410 up into Mount Rainier National Park and enjoy what we’ve long taken for granted – green trees, flowing rivers and streams, and accessible, friendly mountain ways.

Many road trips have been documented of easy day trips that include burger stops, photo opportunities and secret viewing locations.  Try Road-Quest.com, MotorcycleRoads.com and PNWRiders.com for forum-style updates and information on when and where to see whatever it is you’re looking  for.

How many are familiar with the popular 80s Rainier Beer commercial featuring a motorcycle?  You’ll recognize the “Raaaaaaain-eeeeeeeer Beeeeeeeeeer” slogan, but what you might not realize is that the commercial was filmed on our very own Old Sumner-Buckley Highway.

So hit the pavement and find a new lookout, a place to unwind, that Rainier Beer shoot location or a new secret location-- and if you're feeling generous, share it with the rest of us.

Editor's Note: At the time of this writing, Chinook Pass has not yet opened for the 2011 season. However, which clears the way to access US 12 from State Route 410 via State Route 123.
