Group Hosts Dinner Saturday in Effort to Renovate Danish Hall

The Friends of the Enumclaw Danish Hall are working toward raising $50,000 for needed repairs to the historical building.

If you've ever attended an event at the Danish Hall in Enumclaw, whether it's working out with a Jazzercise class, dancing with the or hanging out with Santa during the Enumclaw police program, you know how special this local landmark is.

Currently, there's a big thermometer on the side of the building illustrating the progress the Friends of the Enumclaw Danish Hall are making in raising $50,000 toward making some much needed repairs to the historical building.

According to Pepe Terou, the Friends have raised about $5,000 so far. The money is needed to replace an aged porch, complete structural repairs and making plumbing and electrical upgrades.

A fundraising dinner is coming up this Saturday, June 9 and the public is welcome to partake in a traditional Danish Frikadeller dinner of Danish meatballs, red cabbage, potatoes and gravy and dessert all the while helping to support the renovation efforts.

Appetizers include pickled herring, rye bread and snaps. All beer and wine is included in the cost of the meal. Plus Vaudeville entertainment!

It costs $35 per person and the event starts at 5 p.m. for a social hour before dinner at 6 p.m.

The Friends of the Enumclaw Danish Hall was formed three years ago to help the Enumclaw Danish Sisterhood in overseeing the 112-year-old hall. The Friends of the Danish Hall group is made up of four Danish Brotherhood members, two from Seattle, one from Bremerton and one from Portland, said Terou. So far they have acquired 501(c) (3) certification to make all donations tax deductible, and have had the Hall painted to enhance the building for more public use.
