Locals Continue to Take Home Ribbons From Puyallup Fair

Enumclaw FFA takes a 1st and individual awards, too. Horse and photo competitors also stand out.

Local competitors continue to take home ribbons from the Puyallup Fair.

The Future Farmers of America chapter from Enumclaw High School took home first place in the dairy judging contest. Annie Birklid took home the first-place plaque in individual competition, Samantha Lanting took second, Sarah Dennison took sixth and John Lanting was seventh.

Kendra Johnson, 18, who recently graduated from White River High School in Buckley, took two blue ribbons with her horse Drew. Her friend Skylar , also 18, of Enumclaw also took two blues with her horse Pi.

A number of local photographers also stood out at the fair.

Joanne Young of Buckley won a Judge’s Award for her photo titled “Drinking Fountain.” She also took an honorable mention for “Growing Grate.” Roger Young of Buckley had three photos “Jack’s Hot Rod, Mountain with a hat and Easton Bridge.” Two Bonney Lake women, Jill Kruger and Ashley Wepking, competed with “May Sky” and “Tiger Staredown.” Nancy Lenihan, also of Bonney Lake, competed with “Alignment.”

Buckley’s Grace Bannink excelled with “Butterfly” and neighbor Stephen Brons with “Footbridge.”  Jim Grasley of Buckley took a first place with “Catalina Island,” and he also competed with “Abstract in Gold” and “Children’s Museum.”
