Meet Spokanne and Dixie

These two great pets are looking for homes with active families.

Regional Animal Services (RAS) of King County services 26 cities, including Enumclaw.  We’ll work with RAS to introduce animals that are seeking a companion and new home.

Please note: The animal shelter will be closed on Monday, February 21st for the President’s Day holiday.

SPOKANNE – Three-year old Spokanne was surrendered by her family on Jan. 25 due to lack of understanding.  This affectionate and mellow dog is perfect for a family unit that includes kids and other dogs.  She has a high need to be around other people and can get in trouble when bored or left home alone.  Spokanne is smart and has demonstrated basic obedience.  She is also great on a leash and would make a great running, walking, camping and hiking pet.  She is playful but also low-key and gentle.  This would be an amazing pet for young families where there is always someone in the house.

DIXIE – Recently spayed, this petite dilute tortoise-shell feline is an unbelievably loving and affectionate creature.  Barely able to stand still for her photo, she wanted to be held and will purr when you just look at her.  Cats like Dixie are sometimes known for their unique personalities, and this color combination of gray and orange is a bit unusual.  Her striking yellow eyes and need to be held will win your heart.  As a six-month old, she will adapt to nearly any environment and she would be an amazing family pet as she is outgoing,  playful and active.

If you are interested in adopting Spokanne, Dixie or any of the other amazing pets at the King County shelter, please visit the shelter.  Regional Animal Services is located in Kent at 21615 - 64th Avenue South.  They are open Mondays from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m., Tuesday-Friday from 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Adoption fees vary from animal to animal.  Adult cat adoptions are $35, kittens are $75 and dog adoptions start at $75 depending on age and breed.  The adoption fees include spay or neuter, first vaccines, a free first veterinary visit and a one-year pet license. Micro-chipping is also available for an additional $25.

With the imminent concern of the Green River flooding this winter, there is a heightened need for donations of plastic cat carriers.

Additionally, human help is always welcome! If you are interested in volunteering your time or making donations to the animal shelter, you can find more information at http://www.kingcounty.gov/pets or by calling the shelter at 206-296-7387.
