PICS: Classic Cars, Peaches and Where Are You This Weekend?

We may be past Labor Day but there is still much summer left to be had this weekend in and around Enumclaw.

From the Cruise Into Fall car show in downtown Enumclaw Saturday to the benefitting the Youth Center next door, and ducks making their way down Boise Creek at the presented by the Enumclaw Regional Healthcare Foundation and Enumclaw Rotary, there was much to take in this weekend on the Plateau.

We weren't able to hit up everything but were around town with our camera Saturday so we have some images to share with you. Won't you share some of yours with us as well, and tell us about them with captions!

Fun find of the week: We stopped in the produce stand and got in on the 60+ cases of late summer peaches harvested from Yakima on Friday. There were still a few cases when we got there, and Sarah Payne, whose family runs the stand that opened in July, made sure we got a few of the Angeles, Sweet Dreams and Elberta peaches to try.

Mark Ellefson, Sarah's uncle, has been making runs 3-4 times a week for the last three weeks to Yakima so fresh peaches are plentiful. Vicki Ellefson, Sarah's mother, said the family will probably have another bounty of peaches for one more week before transitioning to fall favorites like apples and tomatoes.

So heads up fruit canners: Vicki also told us that the Elberta peaches are great for canning because they're free stone and also because the skin is thin and can easily come off. Get them while their hot, folks!
