Popular Arts Crush 2013 Festival Events Come to Enumclaw

Two of Enumclaw's premier arts organizations are participating in Arts Crush 2013, a nation-wide movement and one that the Puget Sound region has been involved in for several years.

Two of Enumclaw’s premier arts organizations are participating in Arts Crush 2013.  Historic Downtown Enumclaw will be one of the locations highlighted during Arts Crush and its 31 days of creative adventures in the arts. Arts Crush features hundreds of arts groups and individual artists offering a plethora of free events, special discounts and once-a-year interactive arts opportunities for all ages.

Arts Crush 2013 is a nation-wide movement and the Puget Sound region has been involved for several years. Arts Crush is a collaborative, month-long arts and cultural festival aimed at engaging community, creating access, inspiring creativity and building arts participation. The festival takes place throughout the entire month of October and is managed by Theatre Puget Sound. It has impressive sponsorship of Boeing, Amazon.com, The Paul G. Allen Family Foundation and all Arts Crush events are well publicized on Internet, radio, TV and newspapers.

Chalet Arts Showcase Theater (CAST)  is producing one of these day long events on Saturday, October 5. Studio 54 Furniture and Art Gallery is participating in Arts Crush with a day long  event on Saturday, October 12th. Both are offering special children’s events as well.

During the month about 100 arts organizations around the region host a special event. These organizations must submit a proposal before they are accepted. CAST and Studio 54 received word they were accepted on July 8th.

As part of Arts Crush, CAST is producing the first ever Chalet Arts and Music Festival  to be held both inside the Chalet Theater and outside the theater on Wells Street from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.. At  9 a. m. the famous Eric Ode will entertain children from the stage followed by a recital by a youth orchestra. Then the 11 bands and/or musical performances follow throughout  the day. Eight street musicians (aka “buskers”) will be performing at various locations on Cole Street  throughout the day. It is the goal to saturate Enumclaw with music and many of the local restaurants are going to offer more music through the evening and night to keep the fun going.. Through Arts Crush local artists, arts organizations, audiences, and businesses invest in, promote, facilitate and create interactive and immersive arts experiences. Its goal is to encourage collaboration between artists and audience to inspire creativity.

As part of Arts Crush, Studio 54 Furniture and Art Gallery is collaborating with Arts Alive! Center for the Arts and Plateau Area Writer’s Association to produce a free children’s’ event as well. At the Whiz Kid’s Make-a-Book Workshop children ages 5-12 are invited to write original stories and create a paper book inspired by artworks in the gallery. The writer pros of PAWA and artist will assist the children in  a one hour workshop. Parents can help if they so desire. There will be four sessions during the day: 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. with 10 children per session.  Pre-registration is required.  Meanwhile, in the main gallery, a multi-arts extravaganza  is happening with show called. Sensory Experience of  Touch, Taste, Sound and Sight in the World of Art.  Poetry, music, flowers and origami harmonize with art.
