The Mount Rainier National Park Service reported via its Twitter feed Tuesday that Sunrise Road will open Friday, June 22.
All other Sunrise facilities including the Visitor Center and day lodge will open next Friday, June 29.
Sunrise sits at 6,400 feet in elevation, making it the highest point in the park that can be reached by car. According to the National Park Service, it is about 14 miles northwest of the Sunrise/White River turnoff from State Route 410.
Though the final destination on Sunrise Road won't open for another week, the road reopening provides access to a number of other attractions along the way that have been closed all winter including the White River Campground, and our favorite trail in the whole park, the Summerland Trail (though we won't take bets on snow coverage just yet.)
