Regional Animal Services of King County is waiving adoption fees for cats six months and older.

Editor's Note: The following is a press release from King County.

The best things in life may be free, but some very good things will soon go up in price. Until October 31, Regional Animal Services of King County (RASKC) is still waiving the adoption fee for cats six months and older.

“Our goal was to adopt 200 cats and kittens during this special event, and we’re very close to reaching that number,” said RASKC Manager Dr. Gene Mueller. “The clock is ticking, so we encourage anyone who is thinking about adopting a cat to stop by the Pet Adoption Center soon.”

Normally $55, the adoption fee for cats older than six months is waived during this special event. The fee for kittens (younger than six months) remains at $100. All cats and kittens from RASKC are spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and have tested negative for feline leukemia. Adopters also receive a starter bag of Hill’s Science Diet food for their new pet, as well as a certificate for a free veterinary wellness exam, courtesy of the Seattle/King County Veterinary Medical Association.

People looking to adopt from RASKC can view available pets by visiting www.kingcounty.gov/pets and clicking on “Adopt a Pet.” Even better, prospective pet owners can visit the Pet Adoption Center in person to pick out their new furry friend. The center is located at 21615 64th Ave. S. in Kent. Hours are 3 – 6 p.m. Monday, noon – 6 p.m. Tuesday – Friday, and noon – 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
