Artists Statement: Elaine C. Lynest

“The older I get, the more difficult it is to write about my own work, however the less I am able to articulate what I do, the more I trust in my process.

I am enamored of the journey, the creation of a piece of art. No matter how much I know about the medium and the subject matter, there is always an element of discovery while putting it all together. The more I create the more I learn, the more I learn the more I can create.

Although I am experienced in several mediums, my work at the moment is in oils. Being a very tactile person I enjoy the sensual feeling of putting the oil paint on canvas.

My subject matter is varied, but I like to work from actual objects in front of me or from my own sketches.”
