Community Support Saves Enumclaw Movie

The film has reached its Kickstarter campaign goal and will begin shooting soon.

Imagine a wild Northwest world of romance and adventure, where a teen escapes city life for a small town.

Enumclaw native Rocky Hessler hopes to bring that world to the screen in his planned movie, "The Claw." After a final-day spike in donations to the movie's Kickstarter campaign, Hessler has enough funds to move forward with shooting.

"I have become sort of a lunatic about this movie," Hessler said.

The film takes place in early 1980s Enumclaw. Hessler said that the town itself is one of the main characters of the story, bringing its heritage to the forefront.

"It has drawn me closer to my past in Enumclaw because I miss the people and the place so much," Hessler said.
