“A German Christmas” at Mount Baker Park Presbyterian Church

Mount Baker Park Presbyterian Church invites the community to join in the spirit of the season as it presents “A German Christmas” on Sunday, December 11 at 3:00 p.m. at the church, 3201 Hunter Blvd. South in Seattle.

“Many of our most treasured Christmas traditions have their roots in Germany,” said Brendan Hemmerle, music director at Mount Baker Park Presbyterian Church. “Christmas trees, Yule logs, and Advent wreaths can all be traced back to Germany, as can many of the most beloved Christmas songs we sing today. We are excited to present this music in the same spirit of deep, abiding peace that these masterpieces offered their first audiences many years ago.”

The Mount Baker Park Presbyterian Church Choir will be joined by guest vocalists and instrumentalists to present both traditional and lesser-known Christmas tunes. All of the pieces were written by German-speaking composers such as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Johann Sebastian Bach, and will be sung in German or Latin.

In addition, the concert will also feature an audience sing-along of classic Christmas carols in English. “One of the highlights of the Christmas season is being able to share the joy with our friends and neighbors,” Hemmerle said. “We invite everyone to join us in song as we celebrate the birth of our Savior.”

The suggested donation for the concert is $10 per person. For more information about “A German Christmas,” call Mount Baker Park Presbyterian Church at 206-722-5884.
