Gallery 2011: Wildlife Photographer to be Featured in September

In other art news, Enumclaw area receives state grant to help art program for youths in schools.

Enumclaw’s Gallery 2011 will feature an accomplished wildlife photographer next month. Bob Schillereff has been photographing wildlife in their natural habitat for more than 25 years. “This has allowed me to witness some amazing things. Many of these times, I've been the only one to witness these events,” he says in a gallery news release. His photos have appeared in numerous books, calendars, magazines, catalogs, brochures and advertising. “It is my goal to share through my photography these special moments in time and to encourage others to discover the wonderful outdoors for themselves,” he says. Schillereff’s photos will be on display from Sept. 7 to Oct. 4 in City Council Chambers at City Hall, 1339 Griffin Ave. in Enumclaw. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays except for Tuesdays because of municipal court proceedings. For more Information, call theEnumclaw Cultural Programs office at (360) 802-0239. The City of Enumclaw and 4Culture of King County sponsor the exhibits in Enumclaw’s Gallery 2011. Gallery artist schedules for 2011 are as follows: October, Contemporary Quilt Art Association; November, Dennis Harrison; and December, Mike Dilbeck. Enumclaw gets state grant In other local arts news, Enumclaw recently received $13,070 from the Washington State Arts Commission’s Art Education Consortium Grant. Funds were identified for use with the Artists in Our Schools program, a project designed to provide professional development in art for elementary classroom teachers. Program participants include; the City of Enumclaw, Enumclaw School District, and Arts Alive!. The primary focus is arts education, and the arts education workshops are provided by Art Impact, a Tacoma-based business with a national reputation.
