Musicians and Bands Sought for King County Fair

The headliners have been booked, including Justin Grennan of 'The Voice' fame and returning bands Mojo Overload and UC7. And new this year: the Cherry Cherry Band. But organizers for the King County Fair taking place July 7 through July 10 are still looking for local bands and musicians to showcase their talent at the event to potentially thousands of fair goers.

According to information provided by John Damazio, the stage manager for King County Fair music, participating musicians/bands will receive free tickets and parking for the day of their performance. It is a non-paying gig and each performer has a one hour set to fill. Spots are filling fast so if you think you've got what it takes, send an email to kcfairmusic@gmail.com with a sample in the form of a YouTube link or some other means through which organizers can quickly review your talent.

Feeling a Bit More Competitive?

If performing alone isn't enough for you, consider signed up for the Fair's Battle of the Bands competition set for July 7 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Cash prizes will be available for the top three winners.  All bands must play original music and musicians must be under the age of 25, according to Damazio.

Bands will be judged by multiple judges on song quality, musicianship, stage presence and crowd appeal.  Winners will be announced at the end of the evening. Each band will be given 30 minutes of stage time and organizers are looking for six bands to compete.  

Bands will be selected based upon random drawing depending on how many applicants are received.  Band name and lyrics of all songs performed must be free of obscenities. Drugs and alcohol are not permitted.  Fair tickets will be provided for all band members.  All others will pay the normal gate price.
