Punk/Pop Party at the Chalet Theater this Weekend

The newly formed C.A.S.T. presents a pop/punk band event this Saturday at the Chalet in a fundraising effort to acquire the theater property and transform it into a multi-use venue.

We would have done the story ourselves, but Trudy D'Armond basically wrote it for us when she posted an event for this coming Saturday, April 21, on the Enumclaw Patch calendar.

D'Armond, vice president of the new non-profit group Chalet Arts Showcase Theater (C.A.S.T.) wrote in the event description (), that there is a local movement afoot to purchase the 85-year-old Chalet Theater and convert it into a venue that can continue to show films as well as host a variety of other live performances and gatherings. After all, Enumclaw and the Plateau is home to some great, youthful musical talent. ()

According to D'Armond, the theater's current owner is interested as well.

All they need is money to purchase the property, which is where Saturday's fundraising concert event comes in. Billed somewhat vaguely as a 'Pop/Punk Band Event,' the concert actually features some of the best and favorited bands in the Pacific Northwest, said D'Armond.

The evening headliner will be Moneta from Seattle, followed by Shoreline Drive from Buckley, Palmer Junction from Enumclaw and In All Honesty from Auburn. Thank you to organizer Dayna Coats for providing each of the bands' Facebook pages for us to link to (just click on their names above to view band details and sample songs).

According to Coats, Moneta and Shoreline Drive sell out Seattle venues like Showbox and El Corazon; In All Honest just returned from playing SXSW in Austin, Texas; and Palmer Junction just played the Gray Sky Blues Festival.

It means no having to drive to Seattle for great live music -- how great is that?!

All ages are welcome to this fundraiser. Tickets are available online for $10 through Brown Paper Tickets, and through participating band members. (http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/241176)

Coats would also like to acknowledge event sponsors Chalet Theater, SkyNet Broadband, White River Recording Studios and Cascade Foothill Choral along with temporary stage sponsors Stage Plan, Darrel Dickson and In Memory of Don Shaw, educator.

Again, proceeds from this concert go to C.A.S.T. Go to www.chaletartsshowcasetheater.org for more information.
