Viewfinder: The 60th Annual Washington State Square Dance Festival

More than 700 dancers converged on the Enumclaw Expo Center this weekend for the Diamond Celebration of Dance.

Square dancers, callers, cuers and clogging instructors from around Washington state descended on the this weekend in celebration of the 60th Annual Washington State Square and Folk Dance Festival: Diamond Celebration of Dance.Β 

Decked in festive, brightly colored costumes, young and old came from as far as Lake Stevens, Bremerton, Edmonds and Lynnwood.

Check out the Rainier Council of the Federation of Square & Folk Dance Clubs of Washington state, which is comprised of square dance and round dance clubs from Tacoma, Puyallup, Sumner, Lakewood, University Place, Parkland, Spanaway, Bonney Lake, Edgewood, Milton, and Fife, all in Pierce County; plus Buckley, Enumclaw, and Federal Way in South King County.

Did you know? According to the state federation, on April 17, 1979, the square dance became the official Washington state dance.
