Yarn Bombing Commences in Enumclaw

Meet Marty Wallace, the fiber artist behind the project, this Friday evening during an artists' reception at Arts Alive.

Have you been wondering why the trees downtown appear to be wearing sweaters?

Beginning about a week ago, local knitters under the oversight of fiber artist Marty Wallace, began adorning the trees lining the downtown parking lot along Stevenson Avenue and Cole Street with a variety of knitted pieces that they began working on months prior.

We first reported on the project in early March in which anyone who had extra materials or time to join in the knitting effort was invited to participate. Click here to see a Time Magazine gallery of yarn bombing displays around the world.

Arts Alive! gallery manager Samantha Rheinford said earlier this week that Wallace was still working on additional pieces to place around the city, so it's not too late to join in the project.

If you'd like to see more of Wallace's work and meet her, she is one of two featured artists during a from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Photographer Bruce Benson will also be showing his work.
