Andrea Lyng is March Winner in Patch-sponsored Makeover Contest

Andrea Lyng loves being a stay-at-home mom to her five-year-old daughter and one-year-old son. "They are the loves of my life and I would not trade this job for anything in the world!"

But understandably, she could use a day off.

In her contest entry for the Patch-sponsored makeover contest provided by Enumclaw's Sleek Hair Design and Skin Deep, Lyng said she'd like to have "a chance to pamper myself since I never get the opportunity. ...it is hard when you are a single income family and have 2 kids to raise and spend the hard earned money on, not to mention bills and all!"

Lyng will get her chance to be pampered as our contest judges have chosen her as the winning entry in March's makeover contest. She will be treated to a makeover package including hair, nails, make up and more that is valued at $350.

Said stylist Krystal Atchley on why Lyng was chosen: "All the stories were very touching. We choose Andrea because some of us here at the salon know what it's like to be on a single income raising a young family."

Lyng was as expressive as one could be via email in her reply to the news: "Wow thank you so much! I almost cried when I read this, it means so much!!! I can't wait :)"

Next Month's Contest is Open

Each month throughout 2012, we'll choose from a pool of nominations submitted by readers such as yourself, one person who will receive that complete makover package.

"People have lost their jobs through the economy and can't afford to get things done the way they did before," said Atchley. "A lot of people are struggling and we wanted to get out into the community and help a little more. We're just excited to get out into the community."

Entering the contest is easy. In 500 words or less, nominate yourself or someone else (must be 18 years of age or older) who you think deserves a free makeover from Sleek Hair Design and Skin Deep and tell us why. Send your nomination to Enumclaw Patch Local Editor April Chan at april.chan@patch.com by the 10th of each month and the winning entry qualifies for the makeover that month.
