Downtown Businesses to Stay Open Later Each Thursday in December until Christmas

The effort, spearheaded by local businessman Tom Spencer, hopes to accommodate local residents who commute out of town for work and often don't get a chance to shop at home otherwise.

In an effort to better acquaint local residents with the latest shopping and dining offerings downtown this holiday season, more than 40 Enumclaw businesses have agreed to stay open either up to or past 8 p.m. on the first four Thursdays in December, leading up to Christmas.

"Enumclaw has many special residents that have a lengthy commute to work and back home, so the co-op of merchants are staying open late on Thursdays and inviting these families to rediscover Downtown Enumclaw," said organizer Tom Spencer, of EnumclawBusiness.com, in a press release.  "We are all a little tired when we get home from work but walking through Downtown Enumclaw, visiting with folks and sipping some warm cider in December may just be that refreshing that we have been looking for."
