Enumclaw Chamber Seeking Visitor Center Volunteers

Love your hometown and want to share it with visitors? Here's the perfect opportunity.

Editor's Note: The following is a press release issued by the Enumclaw Area Chamber of Commerce.

The summer travel season is right around the corner and the is looking for tourism-minded volunteers to help promote Enumclaw to visitors coming to the Mt. Rainier area.

“We are currently looking for volunteers to fill four-hour shifts in the Visitor Center,” said Kelvin Schipper, executive director of the Enumclaw Chamber of Commerce.  “We hope to have folks in place by early June, before schools are out for the summer.”

The shifts will be between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Volunteer duties will include greeting guests, providing travel suggestions, and answering general questions about the area, in addition to occasional, light administrative projects.

“We are also creating a volunteer appreciation program with our membership,” said Schipper.  “It is our hope that volunteers will visit different Enumclaw businesses on a monthly basis, and that businesses will provide small incentives to our volunteers. There is no better way to market Enumclaw than to have the folks representing us, actually experience what our community has to offer.”

In addition, the Visitor Center is coordinating a work party to revitalize the visitor center itself. Donated paint and furniture, and some repurposing of current decorations, will add a much needed facelift to the office.

The window display at the visitor center will be available to different business organizations and events for promotion.

“We want our Visitor Center to be inviting and a place for visitors to comfortably familiarize themselves with Enumclaw,” said Schipper.
