Skynet Broadband Grows, Moves and Reaches out to Radio Shack Customers

Locally owned and operated Internet service provider and computer business seeks to fill service gap left with closure of Radio Shack through its new retail business.

Residents, several of them , were disappointed to learn that Radio Shack would be closing in April. But enterprising local businessman and all-around tech expert Chuck Bender was quick to find a solution for those who lamented they'd have to head out of town in order to find the products they once used to get at Radio Shack.

Beginning in June, Bender is expanding to include a new brand and retail business, Xpert PC Plus, which will be offering many of the same items and services that Radio Shack provided including electronics supplies, home audio systems, phones, power supply and batteries, HD televisions, bulk wire and cable.

Xpert PC Plus will also provide computer sales and repair services as Skynet Broadband does right now, and both businesses will move from Skynet's current location at 1717 Cole Street to the old Radio Shack location at 1502 Cole Street, according to a press release issued by Bender.

Customers will be able to enter the business either through the Cole Street entrance or around the corner at 1219 Initial Avenue.

Additionally, the new location will also be open on Sundays to better serve customers.

“Radio Shack will be missed in town,” Bender, owner of Skynet Broadband, said. “We often worked in tandem, sharing customers and referring them back and forth between us as their needs dictated. We are hoping to fill the void that Radio Shack created when it closed. We want to service their customers and provide the items that they have always been able to purchase from Radio Shack in addition to the products and services around which Skynet has built our name.”

Hi, Susan and Lou. We do know that our events calendar has issues at the moment with incorrect timesRead More displaying, and our engineering team is at work to correct this. My best suggestion at the moment is to post a comment on an event with the correct time, if you aren't able to go in and edit an event that you previously posted. Our ownership has not changed -- we have been and continue to be a part of the AOL family. Our intent with the new design is to highlight the great content that our users create and share with the community. We know there have been some bumps with our launch and are working diligently to fix them. We hope you'll be patient with us and continue to share on Patch.

Always looking for a local nature trail, I really enjoy reading Mary Janosik's well written blog. InRead More fact, almost all the dedicated bloggers posting on the Enumclaw PATCH have something worthwhile reading. But it is not an easy job for most of us, taking some time to research and write, without any compensation. Our only reward is knowing we are being read and appreciated and the only way we know that is when you comment. In my opinion, most of the PATCH blogs are a community service, informing residents about our community and issues concerning you, our readers. So please send your favorite bloggers a thank you or a comment once in awhile to keep us motivated and feel appreciated..
