Drinking Liberally

Some years ago I ran into a burgeoning phenomenon held weekly in Tacoma. "Drinking Liberally" started ten years ago in New York and has since spread "liberally" around the country. I've finally tired of driving to Tacoma and am attempting to get a chapter started in the Bonney Lake, Buckley, and Enumclaw areas. We are not postulating for folks to get drunk, but we gather, lift a glass or two of "the nectar of the gods," and argue, discuss politics, politics, politics. We bemoan our losses politically and celebrate our wins. Occasionally we even come up with an idea!

DL started when a group of lefties began meeting in a local tavern in New York. As our country was born in the taverns of early America, where the Revolution was cheered, it seems natural to form like groups. We do not advocate for particular candidates for office - we get them to visit our group and talk with us. (I'll try to get a conservative to come visit too - no booing accepted! )

We'll be meeting the second Friday of the month, beginning September  13 - oops - at Rainier Bar and Grill in Enumclaw, any time after 7:30 pm, until everyone is talked out - usually two or more hours. To indicate your interest you have two choices - go to http://livingliberally.org/ then to the bottle logo, click on that and sign up, and you'll hear from either me or Katrina and be put on my list as an interested D. L.er. I'll give you an email once a month re our next meeting. The once a month thing is all you'll get - no spam, crud or email clogging of your account. Just me saying "hi - our next meeting is at ( time ) ( day/date .) The second choice would be to simply attend - no fees in either case - and we're off and running! Ask the bartender to point us out where you'll find us arguing, cheering or lifting a pint, and on and on.
