Friday the 13th. The calendar’s most frightening date, right ahead of Mondays and Arbor Day. Why have we given so much stock to the legend of the number 13? If you’ve come here for answers, you’re not very bright. Hell if I know why 13 is unlucky, I guess some number had to be, some guy just picked one at random. Even so, Hollywood has had a long relationship with the spookiest of days (yes, I am aware of Halloween, just go with it), and it was only recently they capitalized on the prime marketing day of Friday the 13th. These are just some of the more … interesting films to see screen light on the 13th, the ones I thought suited the “holiday” best or were too funny to pass up. After selection, I realized that three genres typically release on the day: horror movies (obviously), romantic comedies, and family films (I have no idea either).
