Garden Club Plant Sale Starts the Day

Enumclaw Garden Club's annual plant sale was our first stop at the beginning of a full day of local events. We didn't get to all that we hoped, but had fun trying. We were going to post a kind of Live Local entry and include a photo shoot of the whole day, but pictures are going up on New Patch right now in a total hodge-podge, and we know the hostas would get mixed in with the hot shop (yes, Chihuly does that effectively, but...) and bikers would be thrown in at random, and the museum, the chorale, the art studios--who knows where they'd land? Worse, that would mean a bad mood all over again (trying to post on New Patch will do that to you) and we'd be even closer to giving up.

So. We'll break it down. First, here are some pictures (in whatever order New Patch engineers allow) of just the garden club's wonderful sale. What a great job they do every May! What a crowd at the 9 o'clock opening already! (BTW, New Patch calendar, 9 AM, not 4 PM.) We had picked out some of those hostas last night in a walk-through, but they were gone when we got there. Gleeful folks had the big ones, stragglers at 9:05 made do with little pots. Not that there weren't plenty of other plants to fill your box, cart, Red Flyer, or wheelbarrow. Locally nurtured trees, berries, house plants, vegetables, ornamentals and garden art filled the parking lot. At least 30 EGC members were on hand to assist, haul, and clerk. (Where else do you get so much help from staff?) And the first hour, at least, was totally festive. Hope the rest of the day was a great success as well for Enumclaw Garden Club. The community definitely appreciates this event, EGC--thanks for all that goes into it!
