UPDATE: Air Stagnation Advisory Extended to Saturday Morning

The National Weather Service extended its air stagnation advisory until 10 a.m. Saturday.

The National Weather Service has extended its air stagnation advisory that was to expire at 4 p.m. today to 10 a.m. Saturday, instead.

The advisory warns that a prolonged period of stagnant atmospheric conditions this week will trap pollutants and cause worsening air quality as long as the stagnation continues.

There are currently no burn bans in effect as of this writing. (Check the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency to see if there are updates.)

According to the NWS, "an air stagnation advisory means that limited movement of the air mass over the advisory area will allow pollution to increase to dangerous levels. Persons with respiratory illness should follow their physicians advice for dealing with high levels of air pollution."
