  • Where/When: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sat, June 4 in the parking lot behind the .
  • Why Go: This Saturday Arts Alive! is sponsoring a showcase of local artists to exhibit and sell their art. The location for “a LOT of art” is in the parking lot at the corner of Cole Street and Stevenson Avenue in downtown Enumclaw, across from the Arts Alive! Gallery. The event will feature artists, food vendors, and local farmers selling a variety of items.
  • Pricing: Admission is free.

Rainier to Ruston Rail-Trail Relay

  • Where/When: Saturday, June 4 with the course winding from Mount Rainier National Park through to Ruston -- parts of it along the Foothills Trail. (See the course map). Earliest race starts at 6:30 a.m. but between 50-mile and 50K ultras and a wide variety of options including relays for runners as well as walkers, competitors will be out throughout the day, capped off by a 4:30 p.m. awards ceremony in Ruston.
  • Why Go: By now, it's too late to register for this race and they don't take same-day registration. However, organizers encourage spectators to come out and support the competitors, especially as this year's race coincides with National Trails Day. See the Race Day Schedule for when racers will be passing through towns along the course.
  • Cost: Free

  • Where/When: Saturday, June 4  and Sunday, June 5 at the Puyallup Fair Grounds.
  • Why Go: Mother Earth News magazine has been a voice for the counter-cultural, back-to-the-land movement for 41 years. And this weekend, it's bringing that voice to the Puyallup Fairgrounds. The two day event will feature numerous workshops (gardening, green building, renewable energy), live music, organic and local food tasting, kids's activities, eco-building demonstration, a huge eco-friendly marketplace, many influential speakers, and educational exhibitors.
  • Cost: One day pass: $15; Two day pass: $25; Ages 17 and under: Free.

Tacoma Rainiers v. Reno Aces

  • Where/When: Friday, June 3 at 7:05 p.m. at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma
  • Why Go: On what is supposed to be a dry, though partly cloudy day Friday, what better way to pretend summer's here by taking the family out to a ballgame? Reno, with a 32-22 record so far after its first win against Tacoma in a three-game series capped off by Friday's game, currently sits at the top of the PCL Pacific North Division, ensuring an exciting series against the Rainiers who are 23-31. If you needed another reason, go check out the newly renovated stadium! 
  • Cost: $10 to $30 per ticket, depending on section

Susan G. Komen Puget Sound Race for the Cure

  • Where/When: Sunday, June 5 at Fisher Pavilion in the Seattle Center. Festivities begin at 7 a.m.
  • Why Go: Many of those who have been affected by breast cancer have likely begun fundraising efforts to bring awareness to the disease already. However, this annual race is still open to same-day registration for folks looking for something to get the entire family involved with, in the name of a good cause. Choose from a Kid's Race to a women-only or co-ed 5K to a one-mile walk. 
  • Cost: (for registration) -- $35 to $40 for an adult; $25 for youths ages 6 to 12; $15 for kids under age 5
