  • Where/When: 6 p.m. Sat, May 28 at the .
  • Why Go: The Beak is really the only place around where you'll be able to catch the fights for free this Saturday. The fight card is stacked, and it should make for a night of great fights. Stick around after the fights for music and dancing.
  • Cost: No cover.

  • Where/When: 7 p.m. Sat, May 28 at The Maple Valley Creative Arts Center.
  • Why Go: Slow down the craziness of the weekend with this Open Mic Night at in Maple Valley. Anything from spoken word to stand up comedy acts are welcome (must be family friendly).  But if public speaking isn't your thing, feel free to just sit back and enjoy the show, everyone is welcome. 
  • Pricing: Donations suggested.

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. Sat, May  28 at Point Defiance Park.
  • Why Go: The Point Defiance Outdoor Challenge may not be the biggest scavenger hunt in the Northwest (that would be the ), but it sure sounds like it'll be a lot of fun. Think of it as one part scavenger hunt and two parts adventure race. There will be two divisions, an adult 2 person division and a family 4 person division. The unique challenges will test your fitness as well as your critical thinking skills. You're even required to bring a digital camera to complete one of the tasks! 
  • Pricing: $40 per team.

  • Where/When: 12:30 p.m. - 11 p.m. Sat, May 28 at the Freighthouse Square in Tacoma.
  • Why Go: For any Jazz or Blues fans out there, this event is huge. The festival will have three separate stages with a plethora of northwest jazz and blues musicians performing all day long. Tacoma's own Jerry Miller and Rich Wetzel’s Groovin Higher Jazz Orchestra will highlight what's sure to be an amazing day for Jazz and Blues in the Northwest.
  • Pricing: The event is free, but donations will be gladly accepted. To learn more about how to donate visit the festival's website.

  • Where/When: 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. Friday through Monday at Seattle Center.
  • Why Go: If your a fan of folk music, this event has probably been on your radar for weeks. And rightly so, it's one of the largest free folk festivals in the country and it's all going down this Memorial Day weekend at Seattle Center. The annual Northwest Folklife Festival will feature over 7,000 diverse performers, participatory dances, workshops, crafts, food and much more. 
  • Pricing: Admission into the festival is free, but donations are encouraged.
