Memorial Day: What's Closed, What's Open in Enumclaw

The day honors the deceased who have served in the United States Armed Forces.

Memorial Day is Monday, May 30; here is a list of what’s open and what government offices are closed.

If you're planning to travel, check out the Washington State Department of Transportation web pages to plan your route. Expect heavy traffic Monday particularly along I-90 Snoqualmie Pass, US 2 Stevens Pass, Interstate 5 near the U.S./Canadian border and I-5 between Olympia and Tacoma.

If you're looking for things to do in the Enumclaw area through Monday, consider these options:

  • The Enumclaw Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1949 will be hosting a celebration at the Enumclaw Veterans Memorial Park at 12 p.m. Saturday, said Post Chaplain Frosty Hulsey. According to the Courier-Herald, the Gateway Concert Band will be providing a musical prelude beginning at 11:30 a.m. That same day, the Post will hold a Fire Watch beginning at 9 p.m.
  • On Sunday, the Post will host a memorial service at the Enumclaw Evergreen Memorial Park beginning at 12 p.m., said Hulsey. On Friday, at the park to commemorate the occasion.
  • And on Monday, VFW Post 1949 will take part in services at the Tahoma National Cemetary at 18600 Southeast 240th St. in Kent. Phone: 425-413-9614.
