Veteran's Assistance Available at the Enumclaw Senior Center

The services are not limited only to those who were injured in combat, said Senior Center manager Jobyna Nickum.

Veterans who live in and around Enumclaw and who might be struggling with financial or other personal hardships have an important resource at their disposal at the Enumclaw Senior Center.

"Many people think they only have benefits if they were wounded," said Senior Center manager Jobyna Nickum. "They don't understand that there are VA services available if they served at any time."

The Senior Center hosts three Veterans' Affairs representatives several times each month, Nickum said. Not every qualifies for every program, but people who thought they didn't qualify have found out they could receive assistance with medical prescriptions, housing and even large sums of money in back pay, she said.

The following representatives visit with clients in Enumclaw on the designated days below. In each case, call for appointments.

King County Veterans Programs - For assistance in matters including emergency funds, housing, employment, case management, and more.

  • Joel Estey, regional veterans services manager for veterans and community services at 206-263-9066. Appointments are available the third Thursday of every month.
  • JoAnn Pratt, Veteran’s Programs, King County; 206-296-7656. Appointments available on the first and third Mondays of each month.

Veterans of Foreign Wars - For questions about VA benefits for veterans and their surviving spouses:

  • Cindy Kartes, credited service consultant at 253-205-5883. Appointments available on the first, second and third Mondays of each month due to high demand.

Hi, Susan and Lou. We do know that our events calendar has issues at the moment with incorrect timesRead More displaying, and our engineering team is at work to correct this. My best suggestion at the moment is to post a comment on an event with the correct time, if you aren't able to go in and edit an event that you previously posted. Our ownership has not changed -- we have been and continue to be a part of the AOL family. Our intent with the new design is to highlight the great content that our users create and share with the community. We know there have been some bumps with our launch and are working diligently to fix them. We hope you'll be patient with us and continue to share on Patch.
