Enumclaw firefighters raise money for MDA

On August 9th, generous citizens helped career and volunteer fire fighters from King County Fire District #28 and from Boeing Fire Department raised over $12,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  Fire fighters posted up on the corners of Stevenson and Cole, as well as Griffin and Garrett in the 80 degree weather.

Last year, KCFD#28 raised over $11,000 for the MDA, adding to the International Association of Fire Fighters' (IAFF) national total of more than $28 million. Firefighters have been volunteering their time, and boots, to help children and adults with 43 muscle-deteriorating diseases since 1954.

Proceeds raised during the street-side campaign will support life saving research and services to families in King County.  These services include MDA summer camp in Lake Stevens, genetic counseling, clinics, and local support groups.

MDA is the non-profit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS, and other related diseases by funding worldwide research. The Association also provides comprehensive health care, support services, advocacy, and education.  MDA maintains clinics for area adults and children affected by neuromuscular diseases at Children's Hospital Medical Center and the University of Washington Medical Center. The majority of contributions to MDA come from individual donors, with the Fire Fighter Fill The Boot event being the largest yearly fundraiser.

We would like to thank the generous citizens and visitors of our fire district for helping us make this event a success for the MDA and the families that depend on them.
