Black Diamond Miners Day

Join the fun in Black Diamond as we celebrate Miners Day! We kick off with a 5K run at 9 am, with the festival in Historic Black Diamond starting at 10. Live music, food, beer garden, classic cars, vintage fashion show, artists chalk-in, childrens crafts, a puppet show, classic cars and a wine tasting are all part of the lineup! Central to this year's event is the unveiling of the Coal Miners Honor Garden in front of the museum! This impressive display includes a granite wall, engraved with the names of the 1100 miners who lost their lives in mining accidents in Washington State throughout our history! A 6 1/2' bronze statue of a coal miner, standing on a 7' pedestal, will watch over the area which is surrounded by personalized pavers of families, friends and other contributers. The Old Time Fiddlers will perform during the dedication which includes a ribbon cutting. Black Diamond welcomes those near and far who wish to enjoy our coal mining history with a look at the old and a bite of the new. JOIN US! We're on facebook!
