Knights of Columbus Free Throw contest

All boys and girls ages 9-14 are invited to participate in the local level of the 2014 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship. The local basketball competition will take place January 25, 2014 at Mountain Meadows Elementary School in Buckley. Registration begins at 11:00 a.m.

The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship is sponsored annually, with the winners progressing through local, district, and state competitions. The 2013 competition produced two statewide champions from this area.

The Knights of Columbus of Sacred Heart Parish - Enumclaw and St. Aloysius Parish - Buckley are hosting the event and encourage all youngsters to  participate. There is no fee for registration.

Registration forms may be obtained in advance at Enumclaw Parks Dept., your school P.E. class, Scared Heart Parish, or St. Aloysius Parish business office. Registration is also available the day of the event.

Age eligibility is determined by the age of the contestant as on January 1. Each participant may compete in only one council competition and must provide proof of age. Championship entrants compete against youngsters of the same age and gender in 6 divisions: ages 9,10,11,12,13 and 14. At the council level, each entrant gets 15 free throws with distance allowance made for ages.

Last year more than 179,000 sharpshooters participated in 3,000 local competitions throughout the United States.

The Knights of Columbus have donated 60 million hours and $130 million to charitable and benevolent causes sponsoring  projects to benefit their church, councils, communities, families and youth.
