Mutual of Enmclaw Stage Race
Yesterday was a busy day in Enumclaw, with the Garden Club Plant Sale, Artists' Studio Tour, Grand Reopening of the History Museum, and the chorale's Coal, Cows, Hops, and Trains. Then we left the theater and walked down to Railroad Avenue to catch one of the Stage Races. Doreen didn't think she had an interest in bicycle racing, but enjoyed the beauty of it as kinetic art--like a ballet, only much faster. Of course, I love bikes and think they are one of the most amazing machines ever invented. It is also intriguing that after well over a century and with the introduction of exotic materials, the basic design is still the same--two wheels with pedals linked by chain to a drive wheel. Here is a short video sample of one race. There are many more races today!
