Memorial Service for Retired Fire Chief Kolisch Friday, May 24

Motorists should expect some closures and delays along State Route 410 between the Expo Center and Buckley Cemetery during the procession that follows the 11 a.m. service.

The Plateau community will be gathering Friday to remember Joseph Kolisch, who passed away on May 17 at age 69.

Kolisch served as fire chief in both the Buckley and Enumclaw communities. According to his obituary, Kolisch graduated from White River High School and returned to Buckley in 1966 after serving in the U.S. Army. He began as a volunteer firefighter before later leading both local departments. Read this Courier-Herald feature with Kolisch when he retired from Enumclaw in 2009.

Services begin at 11 a.m. at the Expo Center Field House. According to the City of Buckley Fire Department Facebook page, a Fire Department/Law Enforcement procession will take place from the Field House to the Buckley Cemetery for a private family graveside service. A reception follows at the Buckley Eagles (29021 State Route 410).

The city of Enumclaw advises some street closures at the Field House and at Buckley Cemetery along State Route 410 during the procession and delays are likely between 11:45 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
