Community Corner

Censoring by Courier Herald

I wrote a response to the article posted by Volunteer fire fighter Greg Adams.  The article was pointed and stated my disappointment for a volunteer, who really isn't a volunteer, that condemned the community for as he put it, "Letting the fire department down" for not voting in the last levy.  It disappoints me that the Courier Herald censored my article and didn't post it.  It's like a communist news paper who controls what the public reads.  i understand censoring foul language, or articles filled with hate, but a point of view?

If I had to guess, the courier herald has changed from reporting the news to judging the news and deciding for itself whats right and and whats wrong.  They didn't like an article that pointed out the truth behind Adams article.  Looks to me like the courier herald supports the unbalanced budget the fire department has created.  Supports the notion that whenever the fire department wants money, they just pass a levy.  Oh that's right citizens, why have fiscal responsibility when you can just ask the citizens for more money.

Don't you think it would have been prudent on the part of Chief Clow to prepare his budget in the event the levy didn't pass.  No, he hired too many fire fighters, paid over $400,000 for a piece of property only worth about $50,000, property that has now been deemed as useless, paid over $300,000 for a mobile home in cumberland that was only worth $80,000.  All with the thought that they'll just pass another levy when more money is needed.  (Now you all know where his reserve fund went) After all, has a levy for the fire department ever failed?  Clow Never gave a thought to what happens if the citizens say no.  Not to mention his great big raise.  I find it very strange that Clow still has his job after squandering so much tax payer money.

Free citizen for no more taxes and freedom of speech….
