Mayor Liz Reynolds will serve soup, and Boy Scouts also will help out. Enumclaw Police will be there, and guitarist Mark Bloom will entertain.

Last year's National Night Out involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and
local officials from more than 15,000 communities from all 50 states and around the globe. In all, more than 37 million people participated.

National Night Out is designed to: heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime
programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community part-nerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back, the news release says.
