Continuing our series on Summer Fire Safety this week EFD would like to offer a few tips on Campfire Safety.

  • Make sure campfires are legal in the area, especially while visiting state and national parks
  • Build campfires away from dry vegetation
  • Never leave a campfire unattended
  • Do not wear scarves, skirts or other loose fitting clothing near a campfire
  • Always keep a shovel and plenty of water nearby
  • Do not let children play near campfires
  • When finished with your campfire, douse it with water, stir it with your shovel, and douse it with water again.
