Enumclaw Police: Gas Thief Fakes Medical Issue and Possible Assault Witnessed

The following information from April 3 through April 7 was provided by the Enumclaw Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, April 3

No Dogs at School: Police responded to Enumclaw High School at 9:10 a.m. for a report a puppy was left inside a vehicle. The parent was contacted by police who contacted the student to bring the dog home.

Lost: A digital camera was reported lost at Montgomery Park on the 1300 block of Harding Street at 11:49 a.m.

Property Damage: A window was reported broken on a building on the 1800 block of Garrett Street at 12:29 p.m.

Possible Assault: Police received a report at 11:11 a.m. that a possible assault just occurred on Warner Avenue at State Route 410. A woman assaulted by a man then climbed into the back seat of an older white Ford Bronco; when she tried to exist the window, the man drove off before she could get out. It was last seen southbound on 244th Avenue S.E. Police received no other calls about this incident.

Threats: A resident on Myrtine Street reportedly threatened a neighbor for reporting his past speeding issues in the neighborhood to police; a responding officer warned him at 2:34 p.m. to cease both the speeding and the threatening behavior.

Saturday, April 6

Unwanted Subjects: An employee at a hotel on Griffin Avenue reported to police at 3:32 a.m. seeing a male and female loitering in the hotel and possibly prowling vehicles in the parking lot. They were asked to leave. An officer returned at 5:43 a.m. and found them on the premises again. They were trespassed.

Vehicle Prowl: A back pack and a headlamp were stolen from a vehicle parked on the Foothills trailhead on Warner Avenue at State Route 410 at 7:42 a.m. A suspect vehicle seen in the area was described as a light blue Dodge SUV with a lift kit and loud exhaust.

Domestic Assault: A man was taken into custody by King County Sheriff's deputy and turned over to Enumclaw Police for fourth-degree assault domestic violence after he was observed in a dispute with a female on Porter Street at 11:31 a.m. The female initially ran away but later returned to the scene.

Gas Theft: Police responded to a complex on Watson Street North at 11:52 a.m. for a report a man was seen slimped over the wheel of an older model silver Jeep Grand Cherokee with the engine running. The vehicle was gone when police arrived. It was later determined the man had stolen gas from another vehicle via siphoning and was pretending to be slumped over the wheel whenever someone came by.

Tip Jar Theft: An employee at a business on Roosevelt Avenue reported at 4:56 p.m. that her tip jar was stolen.

Property Damage: Police received a report at 10:13 p.m. that a vehicle on Charwila Lane had its tires slashed by a group of girls in a yellow pick up.
