Enumclaw Teen Injured in Collision on State Route 169

The occupants of the second vehicle involved in the Tuesday morning accident were not hurt.

A 17-year-old Enumclaw boy was taken to Harborview Medical Center Tuesday for injuries sustained in a collision on State Route 169 that morning, a State Patrol memo said.

The boy was driving a 1998 Ford Explorer and stopped at a stop sign on westbound 416th Street at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. He entered the roadway onto State Route 169 when a 1999 Dodge Ram headed northbound was unable to stop for him.

The 49-year-old driver and 44-year-old passenger of the Dodge were not injured.

Officials do not believe drugs or alcohol were involved in the collision and the investigation remains ongoing.

Update: As of the afternoon of Sept. 21, the teen was listed in critical condition and in the intensive care unit at Harborview, said hospital spokesperson Susan Gregg-Hanson.
