Juror, Lawmakers Speak Out on Malcolm Fraser's Trial

Rep. Cathy Dahlquist and Rep. Christopher Hurst also issued letters commending the judicial system and the Enumclaw Police Department.

One of the 12 jurors at the Malcolm Fraser trial recently spoke with The Enumclaw Courier-Herald.

On Wednesday, May 29, the Sound Doctrine Church assistant pastor Malcolm Fraser was convicted of two counts of first-degree rape of a child and two counts of first-degree molestation.

During the trial, Fraser's defense attorney offered three theories, but they were all rejected by the panel of jurors, the report said.

"It was the toughest thing I have ever done…We knew we were affecting a lot of lives," the juror told the newspaper.

In light of the verdict, Rep. Cathy Dahlquist and Rep. Christopher Hurst also commended the judicial system and the local law enforcement for Fraser's conviction.

Dahlquist and Hurst, who both represent the 31st Legislative District, released letters to The Enumclaw Courier-Herald on Monday.

"When we have such an allegation that has far-reaching impacts to both the accused and the accuser, I believe allowing the judge and jury to come to conclusions based on the evidence presented is how the system should work," Dahlquist wrote to the newspaper.

Hurst, who spent 25 years as a police detective, said he hopes that the verdict would bring closure to the Enumclaw community.
