Incident Of The Week:

Near Kent, WA. April 7, 2012: Mountain View Fire & Rescue responded to a plane crash in Crest Airpark. When units arrived on scene they found a small plane upside-down in front of a house with the pilot still inside. Firefighters extricated the pilot and he was transported with life-threatening injuries to the local trauma center via Airlift Northwest.

An eyewitness reported that he saw the plane sideways in the air and it banked hard behind some trees and homes before he lost sight of the plane. He immediately went to the scene where two other Crest Airpark residents were assisting with the accident. The three men turned off the master switch to the plane to shut off the plane, they shut off the fuel, and helped stabilize the pilot’s head and neck until emergency crews showed up on scene.

The plane landed upside-down in-between some trees about fifteen yards in front of a home. The plane avoided hitting any homes, cars, or people in the crash. The only significant damage to the homeowner’s property was to a few trees in the front yard. The plane did have substantial damage because of the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) arrived on scene to start the investigation and moved the plane into a local hanger for further investigation.

I do not have an update on the pilot or the investigation probably won’t get an update on this incident.

We would like to thank King County Medic One, Airlift NW, King County Sherriff’s Office, the FAA, and the residents at Crest Airpark for their help with this incident.

Hi, Susan and Lou. We do know that our events calendar has issues at the moment with incorrect timesRead More displaying, and our engineering team is at work to correct this. My best suggestion at the moment is to post a comment on an event with the correct time, if you aren't able to go in and edit an event that you previously posted. Our ownership has not changed -- we have been and continue to be a part of the AOL family. Our intent with the new design is to highlight the great content that our users create and share with the community. We know there have been some bumps with our launch and are working diligently to fix them. We hope you'll be patient with us and continue to share on Patch.
