Incident Of The Week:
Date: 2/13/12
Time of Call: 8:50
Black Diamond Fire responded to a 9-1-1 call for an infant that was not breathing near Kentlake High School. The family of the two week old baby was performing CPR when firefighters arrived. The firefighters quickly took over CPR and was able to get a pulse and respirations from the baby within moments. Paramedics arrived quickly and evaluated the infant then transported the baby to the hospital.

Safety Message: CPR is a skill that everyone should know. This baby was lucky to have a family that knew how to perform CPR and was able to help out immediately.

Department News:

Elections: Fire District 44 is accepting applications for committees to prepare statements in favor of and in opposition to a District ballot measure. There is a limit of three members per committee.

The Ballot issue will be related to an Excess Levy to be placed on the April 2013 Election. Dead Line for application is March 1st, 2013.

Those interested should live in King County Fire District 44 and should contact Chief Smith at 253 735 0284 or INFO@KCFD44.org

A PDF with more information is attached to this story.

Pet Health: Animal Angels Network donated a set of pet oxygen masks to KCFD 44 on Valentine's Day. This set of three masks will go on a fire engine to help firefighters give pets oxygen during fires or other emergencies. This is the only set of pet oxygen masks that we have in the entire department, and we don't have the budget to purchase any of these kits for any of our other rigs. The kits cost $75 for a set of three masks (small, medium, and large). We want to thank Animal Angels Network for this donation!!! Please contact Tim Perciful at info@kcfd44.org if you would like to make a donation for pet oxygen masks

Upcoming Events:

Hi, Susan and Lou. We do know that our events calendar has issues at the moment with incorrect timesRead More displaying, and our engineering team is at work to correct this. My best suggestion at the moment is to post a comment on an event with the correct time, if you aren't able to go in and edit an event that you previously posted. Our ownership has not changed -- we have been and continue to be a part of the AOL family. Our intent with the new design is to highlight the great content that our users create and share with the community. We know there have been some bumps with our launch and are working diligently to fix them. We hope you'll be patient with us and continue to share on Patch.
