Local Firefighters Head East to Support Wildfire Containment

Crews and equipment from Enumclaw, Mountain View/Black Diamond and East Pierce Fire and Rescue have been mobilized to help fight several fires in eastern Washington that began Sunday, Sept. 9.

It's been an active fire season in recent months as local personnel and equipment have again been mobilized to help battle several fires currently burning in eastern Washington that were all sparked on Sunday.

KING 5 reported Monday night that there are as many as 110 wildfires currently burning in the state. One of the larger fires is hovering at about 7,000 acres in Byrd Canyon near the city of Chelan.

According to the State Fire Marshal's office, fire mobilization has also been authorized at sites near Wenatchee, the Coulee Dam, and near Odessa in Lincoln County.

On Monday, sent a tender truck and two crew members to Coulee City, said spokesperson Carina Davis.

East Pierce Fire and Rescue sent four members to the Canyons Fire near Wenatchee on Sunday, according to a Facebook update. And Mountain View Fire and Rescue (King County Fire District No. 44), which also serves the city of Black Diamond, had deployed a brush truck to Coulee City, which arrived at about 4 a.m. Monday, according to their Facebook page.
