Mountain View Fire and Rescue out in Black Diamond for Fill the Boot Campaign Saturday

The fundraising effort benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Teams of firefighters from Mountain View Fire and Rescue (King County Fire Protection District No. 44) will be at 216th Ave SE and SE Covington-Sawyer Rd in Black Diamond on Saturday, Oct. 13  from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with boots in hand, as they kick off their annual Fill-the-Boot fundraising campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

Proceeds raised during the street-side campaign will help support MDA’s local services and research programs, including a week long summer camp for kids, support groups, and local clinics. MDA is a volunteer health agency working to defeat more than 40 forms of Muscular Dystrophy, including ALS and related diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive services and far-reaching professional and public health education.  MDA maintains clinics for area adults and children affected by neuromuscular diseases at Children’s Hospital Medical Center and the University of Washington Medical Center.

Last year, the International Association of Fire Fighters raised nearly 28 million for MDA, making the grand-total for the 57-year tradition over $455 million!
