One Person Seriously Injured in State Route 164 Collision Thursday morning

The driver of a midsized SUV was airlifted to Harborview while a minor passenger sustained minor injuries.

One person was seriously injured in a car vs. semi truck accident Thursday morning in Enumclaw, according to an Enumclaw Fire Department press release.

The accident was reported at 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 164 and 244th Avenue S.E. A mid-sized SUV sustained significant damage to the driver's side from the impact with the semi, and rescue crews needed to use mechanical power tools to extricate the driver, who was then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.

A minor who was a passenger in the SUV sustained minor injuries, and the driver of the semi truck was uninjured.

Seatbelt use, proper use of child restraints/car seat, and airbags can all be attributed significantly reducing the amount of injuries to the occupants of the SUV.

Other agencies on scene include Mountain View Fire/District 44, King County Medic One, Enumclaw Police Department, and Washington State Patrol.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
